Our Weekly Newsletter 10/29

Hello
Thank you to everyone who chaperoned our field trip to Johnson's Family Farm!  It was such a wonderful day and the kids had a blast!  Thank you for making it possible.

This week we are focusing on the letter 'I'.  Please reinforce the sound the letter 'i' makes and point it out everywhere you can.  This really helps solidify the information being taught at school.

There is a permission slip going home today about Brownie, our new class mouse.  I will begin sending him home for the weekend beginning this weekend.  Please return the permission slip as soon as possible so I can make the schedule for the year of the weekends the families will be hanging out with Brownie.

Homework
Here is the list of tasks to be completed this week.  Please space out the activities throughout the week.  The homework is meant to be done in small chunks throughout the week.  Remember to return the homework folder on Friday.

1. Choose 3-4 activities from the October calendar
2. Make a collage/draw pictures of things that begin with 'I' in the yellow book
3. Complete the 'I' page in the handwriting book
4. Read 10 minutes a night and fill out the reading log
5. Fill out the October calendar journal

Harvest Party
We will be having a harvest party in class on Wednesday, October 31st.  The party will begin at 1:45 and end at 2:45.  We would love to have some adult volunteers come and help with food and/or lead a center. Please send me an email or comment on this post if you are able to come help out.  We don't celebrate Halloween at TLCS so the students are asked not to wear their Halloween costumes (if they have one) to school.  Since we are celebrating the harvest, however, I am encouraging all the students to come dressed as a farmer on that day.  This can be as simple as a flannel shirt and jeans.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Thank you for signing up!  We have everyone booked! There is a reminder note in the homework folder today, so don't worry if you have forgotten your time.  I am very much looking forward to meeting with each of you and talking about your child's growth!

Natural Bridges
We will be going on a field trip to Natural Bridges on Wednesday, November 14th to see the butterflies!  We will be leaving school at 10:15am and returning to school around 1:30pm.  There is a sign-up sheet posted on the Shutterfly website for drivers.  The cost of the trip is $1 for students only.  Please send in the payment by Friday, November 9th.  The students will need a sack-lunch, as we will be eating our lunch at Natural Bridges after our tour.

Thanksgiving Feast
On Wednesday, November 21st we will be having a Thanksgiving feast with Mrs. Dueck's class.  Each class will provide their own Thanksgiving food but we will eat together.  The feast will begin at 10:30 and end at 11:30.  A sign-up sheet for food will soon be posted on the Shutterfly website so please check it to see what you are able to bring.  I will be sending out further details soon.
