Our Weekly Newsletter 10/8

Hello

This week is 'P' week.  We will be focusing on learning to write the letter and the sound the letter makes through different activities.  This week you can support your child's learning at home by pointing out printed 'P' words and things that begin with 'P'.

Congratulations to the Prentice family for welcoming their new little boy to this world!  We can't wait to meet him!

Homework

Here is the list of tasks to be completed this week.  Please space out the activities throughout the week.  The homework is meant to be done in small chunks throughout the week.  Remember to return the homework folder on Friday.

1. Choose 3-4 activities from the October calendar
2. Draw/make a collage in the shape book of things you see that are the shape designated on each sheet.    This is due this Friday.
3. Make a collage/draw pictures of things that begin with 'P' in the yellow book
4. Complete the 'P' page in the handwriting book
5. Read 10 minutes a night and fill out the reading log

Johnson Family Farm
We will be heading to Johnson Family Farm on Thursday, October 25th.  We will be leaving school at 11am and returning by the end of the school day.  When we arrive at the farm we will eat lunch and then have our tour.  We have enough drivers!  Thank you to everyone who signed up!  The cost of the trip is $7.  Please send the money with your child to school as soon as possible.  Also, there is a permission slip coming home in the folder today, please fill that out and send it in with the money.

Harvest Party
We will be having a harvest party in class on Wednesday, October 31st.  The party will begin at 1:45 and end at 2:45.  We would love to have some adult volunteers come and help with food and/or lead a center, so please let me know if you are able to come.  A sign-up sheet for food will be posted soon.  We don't celebrate Halloween at TLCS so the students are asked not to wear their Halloween costumes (if they have one) to school.  Since we are celebrating the harvest, however, I am encouraging all the students to come dressed as a farmer on that day.  This can be as simple as a flannel shirt and jeans.

Important Dates
  • 10/18-19- No School
  • 10/25- Field Trip to Johnson Family Farm
  • 10/31- Harvest Party
